From a one-person startup to a credentialed IT and cybersecurity practice serving the San Gabriel Valley and greater Los Angeles.
Founded in Pasadena
Marco Alcala founded Alcala Consulting on July 1, 1997, with no outside capital and no employees — just a computer science background and a commitment to helping local businesses put technology to work.
Certifications & Growth
As the company took on more clients, Marco built out formal credentials — including Microsoft (MCSE/MCP) and VMware (VCP) certifications — to back up hands-on network and systems work with recognized, vendor-validated training.
CMMC Specialization
As cybersecurity requirements for defense contractors and their supply chains tightened, Alcala Consulting added CMMC Registered Practitioner status to help clients prepare for and work through CMMC compliance requirements.

Today, from our office at 35 North Lake Avenue in Pasadena, we support businesses across the San Gabriel Valley and LA metro with managed IT, cybersecurity, CMMC compliance, consulting, and AI automation services.
Meet Our Founder
Marco Alcala
Founder & CEO
Marco founded Alcala Consulting on July 1, 1997, with no outside capital, no employees, and no formal business plan — just an unwavering belief that he could help clients use technology to make their businesses more efficient and successful.
Marco holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from California State University, Northridge (CSUN), and has built on that foundation with vendor-recognized certifications spanning Microsoft systems administration, virtualization, and federal cybersecurity compliance.
He is a CMMC Registered Practitioner (RP), a credential recognized by the Cyber AB that authorizes him to advise organizations preparing for Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification assessments — a growing requirement for businesses in the Department of Defense supply chain. He also holds Microsoft MCSE/MCP and VMware VCP certifications from his years administering enterprise networks and virtualized infrastructure for clients.
Beyond client work, Marco authored “Cyber Chump!” and contributed a chapter to “The Compliance Formula,” a multi-author collaboration with other cybersecurity and compliance professionals that reached #1 in its Amazon category. Writing and teaching alongside other practitioners keeps him current on the compliance and threat landscape he advises clients on every day.
