TO BE…OR NOT TO BE – WHEN YOU SUSPECT IDENTITY THEFT by dStringer

We live with crime everyday.  It's become commonplace...unfortunately.  And, one of the frustrating aftermaths of being victimized by criminal activity is feeling victimized all over again when you try to rectify the situation and normalize your life.

Even though crime is an every day occurrence, most of us have a natural optimistic state and like to think that "it" won't happen to us.  So, when it does, we are totally thrown off guard.  Between shock, anger, disbelief, and completely lacking knowledge in this area, we are absolutely at a disadvantage.

I have written about "Disaster Preparedness" in the past, in regard to Alcala Consulting designing a "Continuity Plan" to insure the longevity of your business in the event of  a tragedy.  But what about a plan composed of knowledge, tips and advice that is in place for you if you become victimized by criminal activity?  Specifically, Cyber Crime?

I was recently in a conversation with a friend of mine whose partner had been a victim of Identity Theft.  It wasn't bad enough to have had his identity compromised, he told me.  The REAL crime came in trying to deal with SO MANY parties in trying to get your life back.  Having very little to no knowledge of what to do made him feel utterly helpless and at the mercy of everyone involved.  It made me start to think...why don't we publish some "What To Do" tips if you suspect you've been a victim of Cyber Crime!

I did  A LOT of research and the absolute best site I found that gave the most thorough information was "Stay Safe Online.org".  The information they provide is so comprehensive, I'm including their link in this blog.  Their website also includes tools and other links you might need in the event of a Cyber Crime.

We here at Alcala Consulting want to make sure that you think of us for any I.T. concerns.  But, we also want to be able to provide any advice, information, or tips that will help you navigate through the sometimes choppy waters of technology...

...which is why we are the "Technology Tacklebox".

As always, we invite you to contact us with any questions or concerns.
